Karl-Hermann Beeck

Karl-Hermann Beeck (born October 23, 1927 in Remscheid-Lüttringhausen , † October 26, 2014 in Remscheid ) was a German historian .

Life

Beeck studied history and German in Cologne , Frankfurt and Bonn . After receiving his doctorate in Cologne in 1957 with a dissertation on "The founding of the German State Party in 1930 in connection with attempts to reorganize liberalism", he worked in school until 1965. In 1966 he became a professor at the Rhineland University of Education , Wuppertal Department. From the establishment of the comprehensive university in Wuppertal in 1972 until his retirement in 1993, Beeck was a professor in the teaching and research area "State history and didactics of history" at the Bergische Universität - comprehensive university in Wuppertal.

Together with his specialist colleague Günther van Norden, Beeck earned services for the establishment and development of history in Wuppertal. From the 1970s onwards, he collected documents on Wuppertal's university history for a university archive he had planned, which was taken over by the university archive there in 2002.
