Karl-Joachim Hürter

Karl-Joachim Hürter (born October 21, 1960 in Mayen ) is a former German hockey player and later a sports official.

Career

Karl-Joachim Hürter began his sporting career at the age of six at TuS Grün-Weiß Mayen , where his two older sisters also played hockey. In 1980 he moved to Cologne to study and joined Schwarz-Weiß Köln . With this club he reached the final of the German championship in 1982 indoors and in 1983 outdoors, but lost each time against the Frankenthal gymnastics community .

The offensive all-rounder made his debut in the German national hockey team in 1982 . At the Olympic Games in 1984 Hürter was used in six of seven games, in the final he was defeated with the German team against Pakistan 2-1 and received the silver medal. In 1986 Gunst was part of the winning team at the FIH Champions Trophy . At the 1986 World Cup , the German team came third. In total, Karl-Joachim Hürter played in 79 international matches from 1982 to 1988.

Karl-Joachim Hürter was responsible for the finances of the German Hockey Association from 1999 to 2005 . In 2006 Hürter was chairman of the organizing committee at the men's field hockey world championship . He works as a tax advisor in Cologne.
