Karl-Magnus Amell

Karl-Magnus Amell (* 1930 ) is a former Swedish cyclist and national cycling champion .

Athletic career

Amell was the 1953 Swedish time trial champion . In the same year he won the championship in the team time trial . At that time, the times of the best three drivers of a club in the individual time trial over 50 kilometers were added to determine the champions. In 1956 he was third in the Tour of Slovakia when Aurelio Cestari won . He drove the International Peace Tour four times, his best result in 1955 with 4th place in the overall individual ranking. Amell was an exception in the peloton as he was one of the few drivers who were very nearsighted, his strong glasses were something like his trademark. It was also unusual that he was a competitive athlete and smoker.
