Zaydou Youssouf (born July 11, 1999 in Bordeaux ) is a French football player of Comorian descent who has been under contract with the first division club AS Saint-Étienne since July 2019 . The midfielder has been a French U21 international since November 2019 .
Career
society
Born in Bordeaux , Zaydou Youssouf is of Comorian descent and began playing football at CMO Bassens. In August 2009 at the Girondins Bordeaux Youth Academy . For the 2016/17 season he played for the reserve team Girondins Bordeaux II for the first time. On November 30, 2016 (15th matchday) he made his debut in the 1-1 draw against SC Bastia in the top French division when he was in the 74th minute of play came on for Jérémy Toulalan . In this 2016/17 season he played three competitive games for the first team and nine league games in the Championnat National 3 for the reserve. Also in the following 2017/18 season he played six league games for the first and 14 league games for the reserve team. On July 26, 2018, he scored his first goal for the first team in a 1-0 away win against FK Ventspils in the second qualifying round of the 2018/19 UEFA Europa League . He was used sporadically this 2018/19 season and was primarily a right winger when he played . In total, he played eleven league games in which he could not score a goal.
On July 5, 2019, Zaydou Youssouf moved to league rivals AS Saint-Étienne , where he signed a four-year contract. There he rose to become a regular in the defensive midfield in the 2019/20 season . On December 21, 2019 (19th matchday) he suffered a meniscus injury in the 2-1 away defeat against Racing Strasbourg . He did one more mission and underwent an operation at the beginning of February 2020, which forced him to watch for six to seven months. In total, he came to 16 league appearances this season.
National team
In February 2017, Zaydou Youssouf played for the French U18 national team . From June 2017 to February 2018 he later played four times for the U19s . Between November 2017 and October 2019 he was used four times in the U20 .
Youssouf has been working for the France U21s since November 2019 .
