from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Karl Sautter Foundation ( Dr. Karl Sautter Foundation ) was established by the Deutsche Bundespost on January 30, 1949, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Karl Sautter's appointment as State Secretary in the Reich Ministry of Post . In 1971 it was merged with the Heinrich von Stephan Foundation to form the Deutsche Bundespost Study Foundation .

purpose

The purpose of the foundation was to make it easier for the children of postal workers to study at a university in the Federal Republic, including the Free University in Berlin-Dahlem, through grants ( grants ) . The purpose of the foundation was served by the income from the foundation's assets, which amounted to:

  • 1953: 200,000 DM (would correspond to 520,308 euros today )
  • 1956: 335,000 DM (would correspond to 832,742 euros today).

A board of trustees set up at the Federal Post Office decided on the granting of study grants. In 1953 these were distributed once a year for the winter semester to "the most worthy and needy sons and daughters of civil servants, waiting and retirement officials, employees and workers of the Deutsche Bundespost and the Landespostdirektion Berlin " .

  • In 1951, 83 study grants totaling DM 9,500 were granted, an average of DM 114.45 per person, which today would correspond to EUR 298.83.
  • In 1955, 95 study grants totaling 18,400 DM could be granted, an average of 193.68 DM per person, which today would correspond to 494.93 euros.
