Karl Arndt (politician)

Karl Arndt (born October 13, 1886 in Kreuzburg / Upper Silesia , † November 1948 in Berlin ) was a social democratic politician and trade unionist .

After an apprenticeship as a locksmith, Arndt joined the SPD in 1908 and became an active trade unionist and member of the German Metalworkers' Association .

In the constituency of Dresden-Bautzen , Arndt was elected to the Saxon state parliament in 1929 . After the seizure of power of the NSDAP he lost all offices and was most likely from the Gestapo arrested. However, nothing is known about his fate during the National Socialist era .

In 1945 Arndt went to Berlin, where he was again politically active. He became SPD district chairman in the Berlin-Charlottenburg district and held this office until 1946.
