Karl August Avenarius

Karl August Avenarius (* 1788 in Kassel , † after 1831 in Vaál , Hungary ) was a German painter and draftsman . In addition, Avenarius also worked as a drawing and piano teacher.

Life

There is hardly any information about the life and work of Karl August Avenarius, who came from Kassel. It is certain that Avenarius trained as a painter in Rome before 1807. From 1807 he stayed in Paris, where he began studying at the École des Beaux-Arts . After 1810 and until 1820 he worked in Transylvania as a portrait painter and as a drawing and piano teacher. From 1820 to 1831 he worked as a portrait painter in Pest and Buda, before going to Vaál, about 40 km away.
