Karl August Geiger

Karl August Geiger (born February 3, 1863 , † December 24, 1937 ) was a professor of canon law and philosophy at the Philosophical-Theological University of Dillingen .

Geiger studied theology in Munich and was ordained a priest in 1885 . In 1886 he was promoted to Dr. theol. doctorate and then city ​​chaplain in Augsburg . In 1888 he became court curate at Nymphenburg Palace and in 1902 professor of canon law and philosophy in Dillingen an der Donau . He was the Episcopal Spiritual Council . In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler .

His early study of suicide in antiquity was taken up over and over again. It arose from a prize question from the theological faculty as to how the stoic attitude to suicide should be judged from a Christian perspective.
