Karl Baker

Karl Bäcker (born December 18, 1920 in Niederkirchen ; † December 29, 2008 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Becker attended elementary and vocational school from 1927 to 1935 and trained as a legal assistant. In 1937 he became an employee of the Westmark regional farmers' association in Kaiserslautern, and in 1938 he passed the assistant examination. From 1939 to 1945 he did military service. After the war, from 1945 onwards he worked at the Kusel District Food Office and Wolfstein Agricultural Office. From 1948 to 1950 he was head of the agricultural office at the Kusel district office, and in 1950 managing director of the Palatinate farmers and winegrowers' association. V. in Kaiserslautern and from 1963 to 1966 insurance inspector at the Palatinate Cattle Insurance. In 1971 he became an insurance salesman.

In 1960, Baker joined the SPD and in 1961 became chairman of the Niederkirchen local association and a member of the Kaiserslautern sub-district committee. From 1964 he was a member of the SPD district board of the Palatinate, the Niederkirchen local council and the Kaiserslautern district council . In 1967 he became managing director of the SPD district association Kusel .

He was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from May 18, 1963 to May 19, 1975. In the state parliament he was a member of the committee for agriculture and viticulture. In the 7th electoral term he was vice chairman of the committee. In 1969 he was a member of the 5th Federal Assembly .

He was a member of the Kaiserslautern district association and, in 1967, the state board of the VdK and a member of the supervisory board of the Landsiedlung Rheinland-Pfalz GmbH.
