From 2016: professional football

As part of the MLS SuperDraft 2016, Salazar was signed by the Canadian major league soccer franchise Montreal Impact . On March 1, 2016, he signed his first professional contract. He had previously scored a goal in a friendly against DC United .

He made his first game in the MLS on May 7, 2016 against the Columbus Crew , when he was substituted on seven minutes before the end (final score: 4: 4). On July 2, in the league game against New England Revolution , Salazar was on the starting line-up for the first time. He scored two goals in Montreal's 3-2 win. Salazar made a total of 17 appearances in the 2016 season , eight of them from the start, and was able to reach the play-offs with Montreal Impact .

In the following season, 2017 , Salazar was loaned to Ottawa Fury after he had previously failed to prevail at Montreal Impact. After four appearances for Ottawa and a strong impression, the loan was ended prematurely and Salazar played again for Impact. Later in the season he played regularly, so he completed 17 league appearances for Montreal by the end of the season. In 2018 Salazar was loaned to Ottawa Fury again, made four more games for the "Furies" until he seriously injured his knee and could not play any more games until the end of the year. At the end of the 2018 season , the contract between Montreal Impact and Salazar expired and he left the Canadians.

In early 2019, Salazar signed with the Rio Grande Valley Toros in the second-rate USL Championship . He drew attention to himself with very strong performances; so he scored three goals in the game against the second team of Los Angeles Galaxy . In June Salazar was therefore signed by the MLS team Houston Dynamo , but immediately loaned back to the Toros. In total, Salazar made 24 appearances (10 goals) for the Toros in the 2019 season and another seven games for Houston in the 2019 MLS season .
