Óscar Boniek García Ramírez , known as Boniek García (born September 4, 1984 in Tegucigalpa ), is a Honduran football player . The international is under contract with Houston Dynamo .

Career

García's football career began in the domestic league with CD Olimpia . Thanks to his strong performances at Olimpia, he quickly secured a place in the Honduran selection, in which he made his debut in the international match against Canada in 2005 and for which he has now played over 40 games.

His strong performances at club level and in the national team aroused the interest of Paris Saint-Germain and Wigan Athletic , where the right midfielder could not recommend himself enough in trial training and had to return to Olimpia.

Although he had to undergo an operation shortly before the tournament due to a hernia, he was in the squad for the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa, where he was not used. He was also nominated for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil , where he was substituted on in the first group match against France at the beginning of the second half. He was in the starting line-up against Ecuador and Switzerland, but was substituted off towards the end of the game. Since Honduras lost all three games, the team was eliminated after the group stage. His last international match so far was in September 2017 in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup , for which Honduras was unable to qualify.

Others

He got his middle name Boniek from his father because he is a fan of the Polish striker Zbigniew Boniek . He wears it on his jersey at Houston Dynamo.
