Karl Brandler-Pracht (aka Karl Pracht , pseudonym Johannes Balzli ; born February 11, 1864 in Vienna , † September 10, 1939 in Berlin ) was an Austrian actor , author and astrologer .

Live and act

Karl Brandler-Pracht grew up in Vienna. After taking acting classes, he performed in Germany and the United States. His last engagement was in Basel . He came into contact with astrology in the last few years of his time as an actor . In Basel he is said to have been in a spiritualistic circle in which a medium revealed to him that his life's task would be to revive and renew astrology.

Brandler-Pracht founded astrological research groups and associations in various cities, for example the Austrian Astrological Society and the Astrological Society in Vienna in 1908 (renamed First Astrological Society in 1925), in Berlin in 1913, and in St. Gallen, Zurich, Munich, Leipzig and Hamburg in 1914 . In 1920 he was a co-founder of the Astrological Society. V. in Berlin. He also founded several magazines: in 1907 the Zentralblatt für Occultismus , 1909 Prana , 1910 the Astrologische Rundschau and the Hohe Warte , 1914 Psyche and the Astrologische Blätter and in 1910 initiated the book series Astrological Library . Prandler-Pracht lived in Switzerland during the First World War. In 1918 he returned to Berlin. He later lived in Munich, Frankfurt am Main, Vienna and Salzburg.
