Karl Braunert

Karl Braunert (born April 2, 1932 ) is a former German soccer player. For the BSG Einheit Ost Leipzig he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football, in the 1950s .

Athletic career

To the company sports communities (BSG) , the 1950/51 the first season of the new second class league of the German sports committee , the later so named GDR leaguedisputed, the BSG unit East Leipzig also belonged. In their squad was the striker Karl Braunert, who was used 15 times in the 18 point games played. He scored thirteen goals and was thus the top scorer in Leipzig. In the 1951/52 league season, Braunert only made ten appearances in 22 games and only scored five goals. In the 1952/53 season, the BSG unit was promoted to the GDR upper league, Braunert was involved with twelve league games and six goals. In the league season 1953/54 Braunert was initially set as a striker and played 13 of the 14 point games. In the second half of the season he was only used twice, and overall he did not score a goal. In his second league season 1954/55 Braunert was only used until the 9th day in three point games. When the BSG Einheit Ost was transferred to the newly founded sports club Rotation in November, Braunert left the soccer squad and joined the GDR league club BSG Rotation Leipzig Nordost. Of the remaining 17 league games, Braunert completed twelve encounters in which he scored two goals. Since the GDR league was reduced from three to one season from 1955, 12th place was not enough for the BSG rotation, and they had to move into the third classII. GDR League relegated. The BSG did not return to the higher-class leagues in the next few years, and Braunert no longer appeared there. He had come to 19 league games without goals and 49 GDR league games with 26 goals within five seasons.
