Karl Bregartner

Karl Bregartner (born November 15, 1933 in Plank am Kamp , Lower Austria ; † September 27, 2018 in Wels ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

Karl Bregartner attended elementary school in Plank am Kamp and middle school in Krems an der Donau , where he passed his Matura in 1952 . As a result, Bregartner completed an apprenticeship as a technical businessman in Vienna in 1952 and from 1953 worked at a textile factory in Wels . Bregartner later worked in Vöcklabruck and at the Interplastik company in Wels. In addition, he was involved in the trade union and from 1960 took over functions in the Socialist Party. From 1967 to 1972 he was a city ​​councilor in Wels, from 1972 to 1976 a member of the Austrian National Council . From 1976 to 1982 he was Vice Mayor, from January 18, 1982 to 1999, Mayor of Wels. From 1981 he was chairman of the Welser SPÖ. From 1982 to 1991 he was second vice-president of the Welser Messe , from 1982 chairman of the supervisory board of Elektrizitätswerk Wels AG . From 1994 he was President and Supervisory Board of Welser Messe International GmbH. In addition, Bregartner was involved as a member of the Chamber of Labor Upper Austria between 1968 and 1979 and was a member of the Upper Austria regional management and chairman of the Wels local group until he was elected mayor.

Private

Karl Bregartner was married and the father of two daughters. He was a member of the White Seagull Wels flying club, which operates the Wels airfield .
