Karl Engemann

Karl Engemann (born September 19, 1817 in Thun ; † October 23, 1888 ibid) was a Swiss politician . From 1857 to 1866 he was a member of the National Council.

biography

The son of a baker graduated from high school in Bern and studied law at the University of Bern from 1838 to 1840 . In 1844 Engemann received his patent as a lawyer and then opened his own law firm in Thun. He represented radically liberal views and took 1844/45 to the Freischar trains and 1,847 on Sonderbundskrieg part.

Engemann ran in the National Council elections in 1857 and was elected in the Oberland constituency, which he represented until his resignation in 1866. From 1858 to 1866 he was also a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern . Engemann was considered a talented speaker and spoke out against the death penalty, and he was also an honorary member of the Grütliverein .
