Karl Floesser

Karl Flößer (born June 28, 1879 in Dürrn near Pforzheim, † July 5, 1952 in Karlsruhe ) was a German trade unionist and politician.

Career

Flößer was a shaper by profession. He was union representative and member of the working committee of the German Metalworkers' Association. From 1911 to 1920 he was a member of the Karlsruhe Citizens Committee, then until 1930 as a representative of the SPD city council. During the time of National Socialism he was arrested several times by the Gestapo because of his opposition to the regime and his house was searched. After the end of the war, he contributed to the development of the trade unions and was executive chairman of the Karlsruhe local committee of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB). From 1947 to 1951 he was again a city councilor. He was also chairman of the supervisory board of the consumer cooperative and a member of the board of directors of the Baden state insurance company .
