Karl Gföller

Karl Gföller (born December 6, 1890 in Rohrmoos , † August 6, 1952 in Schladming ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and manager of an electricity company. He was a member of the Austrian National Council , a member of the Styrian state parliament and mayor of Schladming.

Life

After elementary school, Gföller attended a commercial training school and learned the trade of a machine fitter . He was secretary of the agricultural and forestry workers' association and later managing director of the Schladming electricity company. He was politically active in the Social Democratic Party, where he was a member of the Schladming municipal council and between 1918 and 1934 was a member of the Styrian state parliament. Gföller was involved in the workers 'farmers' association and was a member of the Styrian Chamber of Farmers from 1930 to 1934. Due to his political commitment, Gföller was charged with treason in 1934 and had to emigrate to Yugoslavia by May 1935, and in 1944 he was also in political detention for several weeks.

After the Second World War, Gföller represented the SPÖ in the National Council from December 19, 1945 until his death. He was also the provisional mayor of Schladming between May 8, 1945 and October 1, 1945.
