Karl Grunder

Karl Grunder (born November 20, 1880 in Arni BE ; † January 5, 1963 in Bern ) was a Swiss dialect author .

Life

Karl Grunder graduated from the Hofwil teacher training college and worked as a teacher in the hamlet of Lütiwil near Arni, then in Grosshöchstetten and from 1917 to 1950 at the Pestalozzi School in Bern.

With his numerous Bernese theater plays and lieder, he is one of the best-known theater authors in Switzerland who wrote in dialect. His three volumes of short stories were reissued in the early 1990s. The Hammegg-Chilbi takes place every year in his place of birth in his honor .
