Karl Hager (politician)

Karl Hager (born February 27, 1938 in Pöchlarn ; † March 24, 2010 in Scheibbs ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and district manager of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees . From 1987 to 1993 he was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament and from 1993 to 1997 a member of the Federal Council .

Life

After completing compulsory school, Hager graduated from the technical college for mechanical engineering at the federal trade school in Mödling . He joined the Wüster company in 1955, where he worked as a skilled worker and foreman in the cold rolling mill. In 1976 he took over the office of district manager of the Lower Austria Chamber of Labor in Scheibbs. From 1965 onwards, Hager became politically active as a councilor in Wieselburg , where he was promoted to deputy mayor in 1969 and held the office of mayor from 1986 to 1997. Within the party, he was also active from 1987 to 1997 as SPÖ district party chairman. He represented the SPÖ in the state parliament between December 1, 1987 and June 7, 1993 and was then a member of the Federal Council from June 7, 1993 to December 31, 1997.
