Karl Hanus

Karl Hanus (born July 8, 1927 in Saarlouis ; † January 19, 2013 ) was a German architect .

After graduating from high school, the son of a building contractor studied at the Technical University of Stuttgart from 1946 to 1952 , from which he graduated with a degree in engineering. He was influenced by his professor Richard Döcker , who represented the ideas of functionalism . From 1953 to 1956 he was a doctoral student at the Institute for Sound and Heat Protection with Werner Zeller in Essen. In 1956 he completed his doctorate as Dr.-Ing. at the Technical University of Stuttgart with Rolf Gutbrod . The title of his dissertation , which appeared a few years later as a publisher's publication (Werner-Verlag, Neuwied 1959): "The Influence of Room Acoustics on Structural Design". In the same year he established himself as a freelance architect in his hometown Saarlouis.

From 1963 to 1967 Hanus was a member of the board of the Saarland Chamber of Architects. From 1967 to 1973 he was chairman of the Saarland regional association and a member of the federal board of the Association of German Architects (BDA) .
