The Saarland Cultural Heritage Foundation is a Saarland cultural foundation under public law and was set up in 1980 by the Saarland state government . On the one hand, its aim is to preserve and look after the Saarland's cultural treasures. On the other hand, cultural activities in Saarland should be communicated and actively conveyed to the public. To achieve its goals, the foundation collects art and cultural objects and offers numerous exhibitions, concerts and other cultural events in its various buildings.

"The facilities of the Saarland Cultural Heritage Foundation represent the diversity and liveliness of a culture that is characterized by change and progress, at the same time by a strong sense of tradition and always also by exchange with French neighbors. The collection includes evidence of prehistory and early history Applied art from the Middle Ages to the present day and extends to the modern technical and cultural history of the newspaper. "

The foundation is financed through regular annual grants from the state, sponsors and contributions from the "Society for the Promotion of Saarland Cultural Heritage". The board of directors is Roland Mönig .

Individual facilities

The foundation has three museums, which are located in nine buildings in different locations:

Pavilion IV

The new building for the museum extension in the Bismarckstrasse in Saarbrücken employed the Saarland Audit Office like an investigative committee of the state parliament . Here there was an increase in the estimated construction costs from around € 11.5 million to around € 39 million and a construction delay of several years. The coalition agreement between the CDU and SPD in 2012 provides for a new regulation for the foundation.
