Karl Heinrich Barth (born July 12, 1847 in Pillau , Samland , † December 23, 1922 in Berlin ) was a German pianist.

Life

Karl Heinrich Barth was a piano teacher in Berlin at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. He was a student of Hans von Bülow and Carl Tausig and thus a grandchild of Franz Liszt . In 1868 he became a teacher at the Stern Conservatory and in 1871 at the Berlin University of Music. He also enjoyed great success as a soloist, particularly in England, and was a frequent partner of Joseph Joachim . His most important students included Arthur Rubinstein (from 1897), Heinrich Neuhaus , Siegfried Schultze (among others, partner of Bronisław Huberman and Georg Kulenkampff ), Bronisław von Poźniak and Wilhelm Kempff (from 1914).
