Karl Heinz Ruppel

Karl Heinz Ruppel (also Karl Heinrich Ruppel ; born September 5, 1900 in Darmstadt , † September 8, 1980 in Munich ) was a German literary and theater critic.

From 1928 to 1944 he worked for the Kölnische Zeitung , during the time of National Socialism in its Berlin editorial office. After the Second World War , he was acting director of the Stuttgart State Theater from 1947 to 1950 . He then worked as a theater critic for the Süddeutsche Zeitung .

In 1966 Ruppel was awarded the Johann Heinrich Merck Prize for literary criticism and essay.
