Karl Hofacker

Karl Hofacker (born July 6, 1897 in Lucerne ; † January 22, 1991 ) was a Swiss civil engineer and university professor .

Life

Studying civil engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich from 1916 to 1920 was followed by assistantship with Professor Arthur Rohn from 1921 to 1923 . Hofacker then worked in an engineering office in Lucerne until he joined Professor Max Ritter as an assistant in 1929 and received his doctorate in 1936. From 1942 to 1967 he was a professor of structural engineering, reinforced concrete and bridge construction in the architecture and cultural engineering departments of the Federal Institute of Technology.
