Karl Hunger (educator, 1889)

Karl Hunger (born October 24, 1889 in Schwabach , † July 26, 1946 in Nuremberg ) was a German specialist in German, educator and teacher.

Life

Karl Hunger was born in Schwabach, Bavaria, in 1889. He began to study German and philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, which he interrupted due to the First World War. Hunger served as Vice Sergeant in the 12th Bavarian Infantry Regiment and was awarded the Military Merit Cross III. Class awarded with crown and swords. Karl Hunger completed his studies with a doctorate. In 1928 he moved to Nuremberg and became a teacher at the Alte Oberrealschule (today Hans-Sachs-Gymnasium Nuremberg ). In 1937 he was promoted to professor.

Karl Hunger died in Nuremberg in 1946.

Karl Hunger's specialty was German lessons, on which he also concentrated his journalistic activities. The "German History of Literature" founded by Joseph Rackl and Eduard Ebner was completely revised and edited by Karl Hunger in 1927. This work was later continued by Leo Krell and Leonhard Fiedler and reissued until 1981. Together with Theodor Langenmaier , he wrote a concise overview of German poetry in 1940, which was quickly followed by a second and third edition. With Professor Clemens Lugowski from the University of Kiel, Karl Hunger published the “ Journal for German Education ”.
