Karl Hutter

Karl Hutter (born February 14, 1851 in Wallmerod ; † June 15, 1913 in New York ) was the patent holder for the clip lock with a porcelain head and rubber seal.

Life

Karl Hutter (Carl Caspar Hutter) was born in the Westerwald . He emigrated to the United States of America in 1867 at the age of 16 and became a US citizen in 1872. In 1877 he bought the patent for a clip lock from Charles de Quillfeldt and marketed it. In 1893 he applied for the patent clip lock in connection with a porcelain head and rubber seal , today's plop lock. The bachelor bequeathed a quarter of his estate and more than $ 60,000 to public institutions and more than $ 100,000 to his employees.
