Karl Jetter

Karl Jetter (born June 2, 1929 in Bad Waldsee ) is a German economist and journalist.

Military service, studies and business correspondent

As the son of the innkeeper Karl Jetter and his wife Agnes Muschel, he was conscripted as a soldier from 1944 to 1945 and was then taken prisoner in France.

From mid-1950 to spring 1951, he studied economics at the University of Tübingen . On February 28, 1951, he passed the diploma examination as an interpreter for the French language. In the summer of 1951 he then studied economics for one semester at the University of Munich .

This was followed by two semesters of studies in sociology and economics at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris from autumn 1951 to mid-1952. After that, from autumn 1952 to mid-1953, he resumed his studies in Tübingen. There he obtained his diploma in economics on November 6, 1953. From March 1955 to 1958 he worked as a business correspondent for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) in Frankfurt / Main.

promotion

In 1955 he obtained after testing on 25 and 26 May, the promotion of Dr. rer. pole. at the University of Tübingen on the topic of the importance of capital movements for balancing fundamental balance of payments imbalances in full employment . Hans Peter accompanied this work . In 1957 he dealt with questions of agriculture, with particular emphasis on the work of Heinrich Lübke . On October 21, 1957, he praised Lübke because it had brought centuries of neglect to the public's awareness, had considerably advanced land consolidation and the reorganization of the villages, rural education and much more .

New business editorial office in Stuttgart

From April 1958 he reported in Stuttgart in a new editorial office for the FAZ from Baden-Württemberg until September 1962. His activities there were intended to deepen the relationship between the FAZ and business. He then went to Paris in October 1962 and reported from there to the FAZ on the French economy.

He wrote reports on the state of French politics and the economy, which for their thoroughness and accuracy have been quoted in other studies of France. He was also able to accompany the French President on his travels to Russia, Central Asia, independent former colonial states and the Arab countries as a press observer.

In 1995 he finished his correspondent work for the FAZ and settled near Paris in the city of Chaville . In addition to his professional activity, he has traveled to many countries and areas such as the Sahara, Mongolia, the Central Atlas, the Himalayan mountains and the Cordillera in the Andes. He wrote two books about these trips and experiences.
