Karl Knechtelsdorfer

Karl Knechtelsdorfer (born November 30, 1907 in Enzenkirchen , † October 13, 1988 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and secretary of the Chamber of Labor. He was a member of the Federal Council from 1952 to 1953 and a member of the Austrian National Council from 1953 to 1959 .

Knechtelsdorfer attended elementary school and then switched to the citizen school in Innsbruck. He learned the profession of typesetter and graduated from the School of Politics in Berlin. In 1924 he became an official in the labor movement and from 1933 worked as an apprentice and youth protection officer in the Innsbruck Chamber of Labor. Knechtelsdorfer served prison and police detention between 1935 and 1936 because of his political activities, including with the Revolutionary Socialists . At the time of National Socialism he was a member of the NSDAP .

In 1945 he became secretary and social policy advisor at the Innsbruck Chamber of Labor. Within the party, he held the function of a member of the state party executive of the SPÖ Tyrol , and he also represented the SPÖ between March 18, 1952 and March 18, 1953 in the Federal Council. Then he was from March 18, 1953 to June 9, 1959 member of the National Council.
