Karl Kolesch (born April 16, 1860 in Neustadt an der Orla ; † July 12, 1921 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German teacher and geologist .

Life

Karl Kolesch worked for 32 years as a professor of mathematics and natural sciences at the Jena grammar school. He researched the red sandstone in East Thuringia and made important contributions to the local stratigraphy of the Lower Triassic . For the sheet Jena of the geological overview map 1: 200000 he mapped the area of ​​the lower and middle red sandstone .
