Karl Lafer

Karl Lafer (born December 18, 1922 in Rohr an der Raab ; † March 9, 2001 in Feldbach ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer . Lafer was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1975 to 1986 .

Life

After compulsory school, Lafer attended agricultural college and was then employed in his parents' farm. In 1955, Lafer went into business for himself as a farmer, and was subsequently awarded the professional title of Economics Council.

Furthermore, Lafer was active in local politics and between 1953 and 1957 was a councilor in Edelsbach bei Feldbach and from 1957 mayor of the community. In addition, Lafer was involved in the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry, where he was chairman of the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry Feldbach between 1971 and 1980. Within the party, Lafer also held the functions of the ÖVP local party chairman and the ÖVP main district party chairman's deputy, and he was also active in the farmers' union. Lafer was chairman of the Federal Fruit Growing Association and the Styrian Fruit Growing Association and represented the ÖVP in the National Council between November 4, 1975 and September 30, 1986.
