Karl Leo Noethlichs
Karl Leo Noethlichs (born August 3, 1943 in Heinsberg ) is a German ancient historian .
Karl Leo Noethlichs studied history, ancient history, classical philology (focus on Latin) and philosophy at the University of Cologne . He received his doctorate in 1971 under Friedrich Vittinghoff and Christian Meier with the thesis The legislative measures of the Christian emperors of the fourth century against heretics, pagans and Jews . In 1979 he completed his habilitation with the work of civil servants and offenses. For state administration in late antiquity at RWTH Aachen University , where he worked as director of studies in the university department, since 1987 with the title of adjunct professor. He has been retired since 2008. Noethlich is a specialist in the ancient civil service, the political history of Sparta, the Roman administrative history, the church history of early Christianity and late antiquity as well as ancient Judaism.
