Karl Lorenz (born January 24, 1904 in Hanau ; † October 3, 1964 in Mehlem ) was a German major general in World War II . He was in the Prussian Cadet Corps from 1914 to 1920. He joined the Reichswehr as a pioneer in 1924, and was a lieutenant on April 1, 1928. In 1938 he acted as company chief in Pioneer Battalion 18 in Glogau. In the French campaign he was the commander of the Pionier Btl.s 290. On August 1, 1942, he became the commander of the Sturm Pionier Btl.s "Greater Germany". On February 1, 1943, he became the commander of the "GD" Panzer Grenadier Regiment. In February 1944 he became a colonel. At the beginning of September 1944 he was commander of the Panzer Grenadier Division "Greater Germany" until the end of the war.
