Karl Lotz (politician, 1891)

Karl Lotz (born April 26, 1891 in Hordel ; † March 14, 1973 in Dortmund-Hombruch ) was a German politician ( KPD ).

Lotz did an apprenticeship in the building trade and was employed in the building trade until 1911. After that he was a soldier until 1918. From 1919 he worked in the mechanical engineering department of the Dortmund Union-Hütte. From 1920 to 1923 he was chairman of the works council of the Dortmund-Hörder-Hüttenverein. From 1924 to 1930 he was managing director of the Rheinisch-Westfälischer Zeitungsverlag in Essen before he became managing director of a hotel-restaurant in the Rhineland from 1930. After the seizure of power by the Nazis, he was arrested for a short time and then was a traveling salesman and manager in various industries. In 1938 he was the founder of a car transport company and remained its manager until 1939. After the Second World War he was head of the vehicle fleet and the city cleaning office in Dortmund from July 13, 1945.

He was a member of the KPD. From 1924 to 1929 he was city councilor, parliamentary group chairman and at times deputy city councilor in Dortmund. From 1926 to 1929 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia . This elected him in February 1926 as a deputy member of the Prussian State Council . He remained in this position until 1930. On January 15, 1946 he became a full-time alderman (city council) in Dortmund. He retired on April 30, 1956.
