Karl Meyer (lawyer)

Karl Meyer (born August 9, 1862 in Ansbach , † January 28, 1937 in Bad Tölz ) was a German lawyer. From 1923 to 1930 he was President of the Munich Higher Regional Court .

Meyer was from 1887 after passing the state examination first as III. Public prosecutor at the Landshut Regional Court , then worked as a district judge in Donauwörth and Landshut . In 1895 he became second public prosecutor in Landshut, in 1898 district judge in Landshut, 1902 district judge at the district court Munich I , 1906 first public prosecutor extra statum at the district court Munich I and in 1907 councilor at the higher district court Munich.

On May 1, 1909, Meyer was drafted into the State Ministry of Justice . From 1910 to 1919 he was a part-time chairman of the legal examination committee at the University of Munich. In 1912 he was promoted to Ministerial Counselor, in 1918 he was given the title and rank of Privy Councilor. From April 1, 1919 to September 30, 1923 he was Ministerial Director in the State Ministry of Justice.

On October 1, 1923, Meyer became President of the Munich Higher Regional Court. He held this office until his retirement on October 1, 1930.

In his capacity as State Councilor, Karl Meyer was one of the founding members of Hans Frank's National Socialist Academy for German Law in 1933 .
