from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The court president is a presiding judge who heads a court as the head of a judicial public body.

He is the superior of all employees in the court. As President of a Supreme Court , he is by virtue of his office chairman of the Presidium as a collegial body , if one is formed at the court. His vote can be decisive in the event of a tie. The court president represents the court externally and ensures cooperation with other authorities . He can delegate this authority on a case-by-case basis or to a department president or the chief court employee. He is responsible for court administration ( departments , commissions, court registry , archive, etc.). The president of the court concentrates on judicial activity. Depending on the court (Supreme Court, Federal Court, Administrative Court , Criminal Court , etc.), it also has court- specific tasks and the function of a supervisory authority .

According to diplomatic protocol , the president of the highest or constitutional court can even be fourth or fifth in the order of precedence in a state after the president , the president of parliament or the head of government .
