Sains-du-Nord is a French commune with a population of 2,892 (1 January 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe , in the canton of Fourmies . The inhabitants are called Sainsois .
geography
Sains-du-Nord is located in the Thiérache , a landscape in the western foothills of the Ardennes , about 20 kilometers west of the border with Belgium . Sains-du-Nord is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ramousies in the north, Liessies in the east and northeast, Trélon in the southeast, Glageon in the south and southeast, Féron in the south, Rainsars in the southwest and Sémeries in the northwest.
The former route nationale 351 (today's D951) runs through the municipality .
