Élesmes is a commune in the French department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Maubeuge ( canton Maubeuge-Nord until 2015 ) in the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe . It is bordered by Bersillies in the northwest , Vieux-Reng in the northeast, Boussois in the east, Assevent in the south, Maubeuge in the southwest and Mairieux in the west . The settlement area is located at 129 meters above sea level. The residents call themselves Élesmois or Élesmoises.
