Taisnières-en-Thiérache is a commune in the French department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Avesnes-sur-Helpe (until 2015 canton Avesnes-sur-Helpe-Nord ) in the Arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe . It borders Noyelles-sur-Sambre to the northwest , Dompierre-sur-Helpe to the northeast, Marbaix to the southeast, Grand-Fayt to the south and Maroilles to the southwest . The residents call themselves the Taisniérois.
The Helpe Majeure touches Taisnières-en-Thiérache coming from Dompierre-sur-Helpe and then flows into the Sambre at Noyelles-sur-Sambre as a right tributary .
