Obrechies is a commune in northern France . It belongs to the Hauts-de-France region , the Nord department , the Avesnes-sur-Helpe arrondissement and the Fourmies canton ( canton Maubeuge-Sud until 2015 ). It is bordered by Ferrière-la-Petite to the north, Quiévelon to the east, Aibes to the southeast, Choisies to the south, Dimechaux to the southwest and Damousies to the west .
Obrechies left the community association Communauté de communes des vallées de la Solre, de la Thure et de l'Helpe on June 21, 1993 .
