Cartignies is a French commune with 1,253 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe , to the canton of Avesnes-sur-Helpe (until 2015: canton Avesnes-sur-Helpe-Sud ). The inhabitants are called Castricinias .

geography

Cartignies is located about five kilometers southwest of Avesnes-sur-Helpe on the Helpe Mineure . Cartignies is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Petit-Fayt in the north and west, Saint-Hilaire-sur-Helpe in the northeast, Haut-Lieu in the east and northeast, Boulogne-sur-Helpe in the east and southeast, Floyon in the southeast, Fontenelle in the south as well Beaurepaire-sur-Sambre in the southwest.
