Marbaix ( Dutch Maarbeke ) is a commune in the French region of Hauts-de-France , in the Nord department , in the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe and in the canton of Avesnes-sur-Helpe ( canton Avesnes-sur-Helpe-Sud until 2015 ). It borders on Taisnières-en-Thiérache to the northwest , Dompierre-sur-Helpe to the northeast and east , Petit-Fayt to the south and Grand-Fayt to the southwest . The residents call themselves Marbaisiens or Marbaisiennes.

The trunk road that affects Marbaix was called Route nationale 362 from 1933 to 1973 .
