Damousies is a commune in northern France . It belongs to the Hauts-de-France region , the Nord department , the Avesnes-sur-Helpe arrondissement , the Fourmies canton (until 2015: Maubeuge-Sud canton ) and the Cœur de l'Avesnois (formerly Vallées de la Solre, de la Thure et de l'Helpe ). It borders in the northwest on Ferrière-la-Grande , in the northeast on Ferrière-la-Petite , in the east on Obrechies , in the southeast on Dimechaux , in the south on Wattignies-la-Victoire and in the west on Beaufort . The residents call themselves Damouséens or Damouséennes .
