It belongs to the Hauts-de-France region , the Nord department , the Avesnes-sur-Helpe arrondissement , the Fourmies canton (until 2015 Solre-le-Château canton ) and the Cœur de l'Avesnois (formerly Vallées de la Solre, de la Thure et de l'Helpe ). It borders in the northwest on Wattignies-la-Victoire , in the northeast on Dimechaux , in the southeast on Lez-Fontaine , in the south on Sars-Poteries and in the southwest on Beugnies . The residents call themselves Dimontois or Dimontoises.
