Hecq is a municipality in the north of France . It belongs to the Hauts-de-France region , the Nord department , the Avesnes-sur-Helpe arrondissement and the Avesnes-sur-Helpe canton (until 2015: Le Quesnoy-Est canton ). It borders on Englefontaine in the north, Locquignol in the east, Preux-au-Bois in the south and Poix-du-Nord in the west . The residents call themselves Hecquois .
