Bachant Town Hall

Bachant is a French commune with 2,324 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe and the canton of Aulnoye-Aymeries (until 2015: canton of Berlaimont ). The inhabitants are called Pontois .

geography

Bachant is located about 14 kilometers south-southwest of Maubeuge in the Avesnois Regional Nature Park on the Sambre River . Bachant is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Remy-du-Nord in the north and northeast, Limont-Fontaine in the east, Écuélin in the southeast, Saint-Remy-Chaussée in the south, Aulnoye-Aymeries in the west and Pont-sur-Sambre in the northwest.
