Assevent is a French commune with 1,825 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . Marpent belongs to the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe and the canton of Maubeuge (until 2015: canton of Maubeuge-Nord ). The inhabitants are called Asseventois .

geography

Assevent is located about three kilometers east-northeast of Maubeuge on the canalized Sambre . Assevent is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Élesmes in the north, Boussois in the east, Recquignies in the southeast, Rousies in the south and southwest and Maubeuge in the west.
