It belongs to the canton of Aulnoye-Aymeries (until 2015: canton of Berlaimont ) in the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe . It borders in the north-west on Bachant , in the north-east on Limont , in the south-east on Saint-Aubin and in the south-west on Saint-Remy-Chaussée . The residents call themselves Écuélinois or Écuélinoises.
