Vieux-Reng is a French municipality with 848 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . Vieux-Reng belongs to the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe and the canton of Maubeuge (until 2015: canton of Maubeuge-Nord ). The inhabitants are called Vieux-Rengtois .
geography
Vieux-Reng is located about nine kilometers northeast of Maubeuge on the Trouille River on the border with Belgium . Vieux-Reng is surrounded by the neighboring communities Villers-Sire-Nicole in the north and north-west, Estinnes (Belgium) in the north and north-east, Erquelinnes (Belgium) in the east, Marpent in the south and south-east, Boussois in the south, Élesmes in the south-west and Bersillies in the West.
The Via Gallica Belgica of the Camino de Santiago runs through the municipality . The northern part of Maubeuge-Élesmes Airport is in the municipality.
