Saint-Waast is a commune in northern France . It belongs to the Hauts-de-France region , the Nord department , the Avesnes-sur-Helpe arrondissement and the Aulnoye-Aymeries canton . The residents call themselves Védastiens or Védastiennes.

Parts of the Carrière des Nerviens nature reserve are located in Saint-Waast and Bavay to the southeast . The other neighboring communities are La Flamengrie and Bettrechies in the north-west, Bellignies and Houdain-lez-Bavay in the north-east, Bermeries in the south, Preux-au-Sart in the south-west and Wargnies-le-Petit (point of contact) in the west.
