Poix-du-Nord is a French commune with 2,203 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe and the canton of Avesnes-sur-Helpe .
geography
The municipality is located around 20 kilometers southeast of Valenciennes in the Avesnois Regional Nature Park . Neighboring communities are:
- Louvignies-Quesnoy in the north,
- Englefontaine in the east,
- Hecq , Preux-au-Bois and Robersart in the southeast,
- Bousies in the south,
- Vendegies-au-Bois in the southwest,
- Neuville-en-Avesnois to the west and
- Salesches in the northwest.
The place is located on the river Saint-Georges , which drains over the Écaillon to the Scheldt .
